THE CHARLOTTE CONCERT BAND WELCOMES |

PROFESSIONAL AND DEDICATED AMATEUR PLAYERS.
Any adult performer who is a high school graduate with above-average playing skills, especially sightreading ability, is eligible to audition for the CCB. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 in Dana Auditorium in the E. H. Little Fine Arts Building at Queens University. Our season runs from mid-August to May. There are many different levels of community bands and as the conductor, I feel we fall somewhere in the "above average" category. We're not the Eastman Wind Ensemble, but we do have our moments of exceptional playing, including a performance at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference in 2008 (Check out The Listening Room for samples). (opens a new window) An audition is required to determine appropriate placement within the band and to determine performance level for solo assignments. The audition process also allows me, as the conductor, to learn more about you and tell you about other CCB members who may share your background. Prospective players should prepare two brief selections to demonstrate tone quality, control, range, technical ability and musicianship. These may be solos, etudes or excerpts from band or orchestral parts. If you are interested in auditioning, click Contact us on the right, then copy and paste the following in your email and complete it. Add any other comments or questions you would like.
